Julia's German Stammtisch - The Best Schnitzels in Town!
"We had travel up to Columbia from Charleston to conduct some personal business.  We had heard of Julia's from one of our neighbors so today was our day to see if Julia's truly had good German foods.  My wife is from the Munich area and together we have traveled and eaten different foods throughout Germany.  We both made different choices for lunch.  Our choices of drink (wonderful sweet tea) was filled immediately and fresh baked bread was ushered to our table quickly.  My wife, Erna choose the potato pancakes with applesauce with her Bratwurst dish.  I choose the Jaegerschnitzel plus a wonderful salad along with home fries (potato lumps fried in a skillet).  By the time we finished our bread and I eaten my salad our food was headed our way.  The dishes were cooked "exactly" as they would have been had we been in the Taunus area north of Frankfurt/Main.  Germany like America native have their own way of cooking dishes in their hometowns.  Example: Bar-B-Que whether it be pork or beef has so many ways to cook/prepare along with so many different types of sauces that we use to garnish our meats.  Unfortunately we were both to full to partake of Julia's German cheesecake or Julia's Butter Cream Torte.  Of course this means we will return to Columbia soon just to enjoy Julia's wonderful German food and partake of her desert.  My wife Erna and I were early for lunch exactly at 11:00AM.  We were greeted by Helen, our waitress who is also Julia's granddaughter.  We had our choice of tables and Helen immediately asked for our drink of choice.  Helen made sure that our food was to our liking, our tea glasses were always filled and knew exactly when to visit our table without interrupting our conversation.  When Helen realized that we had eaten our fill and still had food left over she immediately provided us with the "To Go" containers to keep our food fresh.  Just for the record I just completely eaten the remainder of my Jaegerschnitzel and potatoes.  The food and service was excellent!  Provide us with the same quality of food and service and you have us as customers for as long as you are open.  We also look forward to your expansion of the dining area.
"I've had several different dishes from Julia's and the food is very good and the portions are generous.  The staff at Julia's are very friendly and accommodating.  I would also like to thank the anonymous person or persons for picking up my meal tab.  That was a most generous and thoughtful act of kindness I've seen in a while.  I hope I can do the same for someone one day.  Thanks again and thank you Julia for your welcoming and friendly restaurant.
"This was our first time here and the food was fantastic!  We will definitely be going back!  The staff was very good and very attentive!
"This is some of the best German food I've had!  The place is like someone invited you over for dinner!  The people are so friendly!  The service is great!  And the food is awesome!!
"We traveled from Ohio to Columbia for a mini vacation.  I was born in Germany so a local friend from this area recommended the restaurant.  It reminded me of growing up at home and the food was beyond GREAT!  When we left my husband said "that did not feel like we went to a restaurant, it felt like friends invited us over for dinner!" Our 3 year old daughter LOVED the schnitzel fingers.  The staff was so kind and so friendly!!  They treated us like family.  We told them we will stop again if we come through or we will make a trip one weekend just for the food and hospitality. "
"Every time we come to Julia's we are greeted with a huge hug from Julia and a very warm welcome from Jerry & Victoria.  The service is always wonderful and of course the food is always amazing!  We try to come in once a week because we love the food and we love Julia and everyone at her wonderful Stammtisch."
"Julia's has the best German food in SC.  They are fast, friendly, and AMAZINGLY yummy."
“Don't change anything...We first heard about this place from the Trip Adviser web site review and thought to try it out ourselves.  We weren't disappointed, it was awesome!!!  And well worth the drive from Augusta.  You can see my personal comment on trip adviser website (Augustaonthego).  Go to this great place "Julia's" and meet this wonderful person and staff!”
“Eating at Julia's is like eating with family.  Love you, Julia!  More desserts please! Julia's dessert are so wonderful they run out quickly.”
"Jerry and Victoria are terrific host--was our first visit and I can't wait to return, especially for the desserts!!! Don't know how it could be any better.  We were treated like family and I didn't want to leave.
"The main course was delicious, but the dessert was HEAVENLY!  I had the apricot/pineapple cake.  Jerry and Victoria provided excellent service.  They were both so personable and made us feel welcome.
"Your food, service....EVERYTHING is great.
"I must discover the secret to this heavenly food"  Julia has an open kitchen and invited my wife and I in - I which would have remembered to ask that little angel Julia how to cook a schnitzel, I used to think I knew how to cook...(her son is also as kind a person as you could ever meet). Have dessert then call your mom tell her that you've finally had a homemade dessert (Bavarian Chocolate Cake)." "We were here for a U.S. Army graduation and found Julia's German Stammtisch on Trip Adviser - the number 4 rated restaurant in Columbia, SC!!!"
The potato pancakes, schnitzel fingers and the Jager Schnitzel were fantastic.  Paired up with some delicious German beer I was in heaven!  Very friendly and patient with a road warrior.  Love rye or pump bread with butter.  Other than that everything was fantastic.  I was so glad to be able to find you during my trips to Columbia.  The city has far too many fast food outlets and getting real food was a treat and worth the long drive."
"Both meals I had on Tuesday and Wednesday evening were out of this world.  The portions were plentiful especially the Double Decker.  The left overs I took back to the hotel will be my dinner tomorrow night.  I enjoyed the food so much, I will be having dinner for the third time at Julia's Friday night before I fly home Saturday afternoon.  The whole experience was like being invited into your home and asked to join you at the dinner table to enjoy a great homemade cooked meal.  I enjoyed meeting both Julia and Jerry.  Jerry and I had good conversation on may subject beside the great food they prepared me.  I'm sorry I don't live locally so I may eat here more often.  I can only hope that I will have a reason to visit Columbia again so that I can enjoy the great food and atmosphere.  I would highly recommend Julia's to anyone who is looking for great German food and spirits.  Thanks again Julia, Jerry and your whole staff for a memorable time."
Excellent! Excellent!

"When we learned of your Stammtisch, we decided to try out the lunch.  WOW!!!  Your food reminded us of our trip in July 2010 to Munich which we had such a great time, and we especially enjoyed the beer and food.  We want all of the recipes :))
"Jerry and Julia were just great people to meet and wait on us. Don't change a thing....well, maybe open your next location in Charleston, SC so I don't have to travel so far...looking forward to our next visit!!
"On a recent visit to Columbia with my father, my GPS was savvy enough to suggest this hidden gem of a restaurant.  If one is looking for authentic schnitzels of almost any variety then look no further...this is the real deal.  The veal is so light and tender it could practically float off your plate!  Flavor (i had the Jagerschnitzel) was SUPREME...I have had none better, here or in my frequent jaunts to Germany for work. The family that owns and operates this establishment are a delight and one can tell they take pride in preparing and serving the food.  Honestly cannot recommend highly enough! Please obtain a card machine so we can pay by credit card.  I almost had to wash dishes to pay for my meal! (cash only)
